Finding good employment in today’s turbulent economy is really tough right now. You can overcome many obstacles and find employment in a bad economy by following the following these tips:
- If you’re unemployed think about changing careers into more resilient industries. Employment is out there if you know where to look. Technology and health-care are some of the industries hiring now.
- Network every day. Join professional organizations in your church, charity groups, and civic groups. Put the word out to your friends and relatives that you’re tying to find employment. The more people you know and meet, the better your chances to find employment in a bad economy.
- Don’t forget about freelance work. Think about using your valuable skills to write content on the Internet and get paid for it. Google for ways to make money online. There are several helpful articles to help you get started. There’s also a helpful e-book’s available.
- Brush up on your skills especially during a bad economy. Make sure to familiarize yourself with the most common software programs like Microsoft Word and Excel. Many unemployed people today in their forties and fifties are not finding jobs because their younger counterparts have more computer skills.
Job Experience
I admit that finding a job is really difficult. Based on my experience, one cannot easily land a good job. Well, it depends. First thing I’ve noticed is most employers need job seekers who already have job experiences. If that’s the case, what will happen to the fresh graduates? Duh.
Someone asked me about my job experience. So here it goes. At first, I wasn’t able to land a good job. Sad to say, I’m a computer engineering graduate but I applied in all types of field — teller in the bank, marketing officer in a mall, a call center agent, and so much more. Yeah, that’s reality and I have no choice but to deal with it. At first, I landed a job as a call center agent here in our place but it only took me 3-4 months. Too much pressure + graveyard shift + I always end up getting sick + I didn’t really liked the job that’s why I decided to quit. Later on, I found what I’ve been looking for. I decided to work home-based and at the same time I continued applying my skills with programming, making sites and doing computer jobs too. I’ve been into this for more than 2 years already and I really, really love this job!
So how about you? What’s your job experience?
